오방신장무 (2022)

경상남도 사천시에 전해 내려오는 국가무형문화재 탈춤인 ‘가산오광대’ 중에서, ‘오방신장무’ 부분에 기초하여 대금, 가야금, 피아노 및 모듬북을 위해 작곡된 작품이다. 오방신장무에 담겨져 있는, 다섯개의 방위(五方)나 음양오행과 같은 음악외적 개념들은 단호히 지양하고, 서양악기와 전통악기가 함께하는 춤곡이라는, 순수하게 음악적인 요소에 집중하여 작곡하였다. 옥타토닉에 기반한 화음 및 선율들의 교차와 함께 전통적인 5음음계 및 리듬의 사용을 통해 서로다른 문화권의 음악적 특징들을 조화롭게 표현하려 하였다.

Mask Dance of Five Gods (2022) The composition of this piece is based on "Oh- Bang_Shin-Jang-Moo," part of the Korean traditional mask dance "Ga-San-Oh-Gwang-Dae." Instead of utilizing non-musical traditional philosophies of mask dance, I primarily focused on the musical aspects. I tried to achieve harmonious coexistence of sounds from a variety of cultures. Various harmonic combinations from the octatonic scale and subtle sonorities from the pentatonic scale resonate with the traditional rhythmic drive.
