불가리아 풍의 ‘세노야 세노야’ 오래전 작곡한 노래 ‘세노야 세노야’는 우리나라에서 많이 알려진 노래이다. 이 노래는 민요풍의 노래로 대중가수들에 의 해 많이 불려졌지만 재즈로, 피아노곡으로, 합창곡으로 연주되기도 하였다. 이번 한국-불가리아 교류음악회에 불가리아 플로브디프 국립음악원의 불가리아 전통 민요 전공 교수와 민속악기인 카발 전공 교수가 초대된다 해서 이 노래를 불가 리아에 소개하고 싶어 곡을 쓰게 되었다. 불가리아의 두 연주자와 우리의 악기 해금과 가야금이 함께 하여 두 나라의 음 악이 어울리도록 시도하였으며, 4절로 이루어진 노래를 refrain으로, 사이 사이에 세 악기로 이루어진 Episode가 삽입된 론도 형식으로 작곡되었다. 노래의 각 절은 박자가 바뀌며 음계, 화성, 리듬, 주법등 동서양의 음악요소가 사용되어 이 곡 에서 두 나라의 음악적 분위기가 자연스럽게 어울리기를 기대해 본다. *1970년 여름 고은 시인의 시 세노야 세노야를 작곡 위촉해 준 고 김민기 학전 대표에게 이 곡을 헌정합니다.

Senoya Senoya" in Bulgarian style 'Senoya Senoya', composed long ago, is a well-known song in Korea. This folk song has been performed by many popular singers and has also been arranged for jazz, piano pieces, and choral works. As I was informed that guest performers will be two professors, who are specializing in Bulgarian traditional folk song and kaval (a traditional wind instrument) in the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, then I decided to compose this piece so as to introduce this song to Bulgaria. The composition attempts to harmonize the music of both countries by bringing together two Bulgarian performers with our traditional instruments, the haegeum and gayageum. The song, which consists of four verses, is composed in rondo form with episodes inserted between refrains, performed by the three instruments. Each verse of the song changes time signatures and employs musical elements from both East and West, including scales, harmonies, rhythms, and playing techniques. Through this piece, I hope that the musical atmospheres of the two countries will be naturally blended together. *I would like to dedicate this piece to recently deceased Kim Min-ki, representative of Hakchon, who commissioned the composition of "Senoya Senoya" based on the poet Ko Un's poem in the summer of 1970.
